Online Guitar Lessons

Joe Satriani is playing an IBANEZ guitar!

Joe Satriani Plays Ibanez Guitars

Why I like online guitar lessons.

First thing that got me about online guitar lessons was how easy it is to get quality guitar lessons way cheaper than buying a stand alone CD or DVD.

Sure, you can fit a lot of information on a DVD, and if you want to buy guitar lessons on DVD then it's probably the best physical format to get. After all, online guitar lessons don't quite make much of an impression under a Christmas tree and you can't quite pack it in a box for birthdays either.

If you plan on buying yourself a good beginners guitar course, meaning it's not a gift for someone else, then I think a good online guitar lessons site with downloadable video lessons and ebooks is the way to go. You can always burn your own guitar lessons DVD or CD set later when you feel the need.

Another great thing about downloadable online guitar lessons is that any future upgrades, like additional guitar lessons added to the membership site, or revised lessons made easier to understand and implement, are automatically yours for the taking.

I should also add that any guitar lessons site that doesn't at least have a forum or some other way of getting your questions answered, and by that I mean questions pertaining to the actual guitar lessons themselves, should be avoided.

I say that for two reasons. Firstly, It means they don't care about you enough to back up their product, and secondly, they're not in touch with the needs of their students, so how would they know what to do to improve the product?

There should at least be email support.

The ultimate guitar lessons format.

Well, this has to be a combination of DVD's and books on learning how to play the guitar, coupled with an online version covering the exact same lessons. This is the best of both worlds combined in one guitar course.

The cool thing about that is, say now your DVD's get damaged, or you go on holiday but leave your guitar lessons DVD behind (you're going to take your guitar along, right?).

If you didn't take your laptop along, you can always pop in to the local internet cafe and download the guitar licks, riffs or lead runs you need to check up on.

Obviously the same criteria for support would apply.

What if they had live online chat to support the guitar lessons, wouldn't that be great?

There is one guitar lessons DVD set that fills these qualifications quite nicely, but with a twist.

Here's the twist.

There isn't just one guitar teacher, there's a whole team of guitar teachers, each with a unique talent and style.

It's the combination of all these factors that make it the ultimate Learn Guitar DVD Course.

Let me tell you about Tony Cox and Greg Georgiades.

Tony Cox is a finger picking acoustic guitarist, and Greg Georgiades is a Jazz guitarist.

I'm a Blues Rock Guitarist, a very common species on this planet.

When it comes to lead guitar, I can probably play better than Tony, but when it comes to finger picking - Forget it. Tony can wipe the floor with me. Greg on the other hand is a Jazz guitarist, so I really don't know what the hell he's doing. It all sounds a little off to me, but the bottom line is this: We can all learn from each other, and if you had to take lessons from all three of us, you'd be better than any one of us eventually.

You'd be the meanest fingerpicking blues rock guitarist and all that jazz combined, and other guitarists would have a hard time talking to you without bowing down. That's a bit like I feel around Tony.
